Evelyn was born on April 10, 1927, to William and Gladys (Pinney) Dipp, in Freeport, Michigan. She was the third of six children.  Evelyn graduated from Freeport High School, she later moved to Grand Rapids where she attended Davenport-McLachlan Institute. After graduating in 1949 with a degree in Stenography, Evelyn worked as a secretary.

In 1954, Evelyn met Stuart Boonenberg and they married on September 1, 1956. After buying their dream house on 79th Street, Evelyn and Stuart had three daughters, Ellen Hilton (Robert) of Boca Raton, Florida, Gayle Boonenberg of Hyannis, Massachusetts, and Sandra Boonenberg of Lighthouse Point, Florida.

Evelyn worked into her late 60’s and then volunteered at University of Michigan Hospital formerly known as Metro Hospital until she was almost 90. Evelyn loved gardening, reading, baking, and traveling.

Evelyn was predeceased by Stuart, her sister, Emily Mokma, her brothers, William (Maxine) Dipp, Ernest (Deloris) Dipp, and Clare (Marian) Dipp. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Ellen Hilton (husband Robert Hilton), Gayle Boonenberg, and Sandra Boonenberg, her niece Beverly Baron (husband Frank Baron), great friend, Ann Frieswyk, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Breton Extended Care for the care and affection they showed to Evelyn. The family would also like to thank Beverly Baron for being a surrogate daughter to Evelyn.

There will be a private graveside service at Rest Lawn Cemetery on Friday, June 21 at 11:00, followed by a Celebration of Life at Breton Extended Care, 2505 44th Street SE, Kentwood at 12:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mel Trotter Missions.
