Dennis "Denny" Allan Carmer, age 67, of Hamilton, MI, died surrounded by family after a battle with illness on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.  Dennis was known for being a jokester, and always having a good time. The oldest of 5 children, Dennis loved life and made the best of it at every family gathering. He retired from Caption Call in 2017. In retirement, Dennis and the love of his life, Sheryl, were able to make a dream of Dennis’ come true when purchasing a home at Sandy Pines Recreational Community, known as his "Happy Place."  Being at Sandy Pines brought Dennis so much joy and peace, especially being able to share it with his kids and grandkids. Dennis enjoyed golf, the game of pool, and football. He was able to share his loves with his kids and grandkids by teaching them all he knew. A favorite activity for Dennis was his annual Father’s Day family golf outing at Sandy Pines with his kids and grandkids. He often called it "Steak and Scramble." Another love of Dennis was the game of pool. Dennis taught his son this love and continued to teach his grandkids this love as well. He loved his football, especially cheering for Michigan and the Lions, never missing a game...GO BLUE! Dennis also coached football in his younger years with his father, Robert Carmer, who is preceded in death. Of all of Dennis’ loves, his family was the most important. He loved life and lived it to the fullest, always wanting a good time with family and friends. His beautiful life will be cherished always in the lives of his devoted wife of 47 years, Sheryl Carmer; his children, Melissa Soper (Tim whom he loved as a son); son, Daniel (Bernedette) Carmer; beloved grandkids whom he was known as “Bompa”, Riley, Austin, and Kaitlyn Soper; his mother, Constance Ranta; siblings, Barbara Welch, Steve (Cindi) Carmer, David Carmer, Brian Carmer, and Danielle (Justin) Allen; step-siblings, David Sickrey, Faith Sickrey; many nieces, nephews and extended family.  The family welcomes visitors, prior to the service at Community CRC, Monday, June 3, from 11 am - 12 noon.  The funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Monday, June 3, at Community Christian Reformed Church, 150 Burt St. SE, Wyoming, 49548. Interment will be in Salem Township Cemetery.
