NEWHOUSE, TANNER
June 7, 2006 - March 9, 2024
GRAND RAPIDS, MI

Tanner Joel Newhouse, age 17, ran to the arms of Jesus on Saturday, March 9, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family. Tanner patiently and courageously maintained his positive attitude, his humor, and his strength throughout his 18 month journey with brain cancer, bringing joy and laughter to everyone he met along the way. Tanner greatly enjoyed yearly family vacations at Ludington State Park, going to Universal Studios in Florida, experiencing the beauty of God's creation, listening to a wide variety of fun, eclectic music, and playing online video games with his friends. He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Craig and Melody Newhouse; his older siblings, Brenna and Evan; his grandparents, Terry and the late Linda Buit, Jane and Russ Mennes, David and Mary Newhouse; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Tanner will also be fondly remembered by his fellow classmates and teachers at South Christian High School, where he was currently in his junior year, and his entire medical team at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, where Tanner received such wonderful care. Please join Tanner's family in celebrating his life at a visitation on Friday, March 15, from 5 - 8 PM, at Seymour Christian Reformed Church, 840 Alger St. SE, Grand Rapids. A memorial service will be held, also at Seymour, at 2 PM on Saturday, March 16, officiated by pastor Brian White. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to P.O.R.T. (Pediatric Oncology Resource Team) at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital or to Friends of Ludington State Park.
