On Monday, December 4, 2023, Victor Herman Maier, age 94, of Byron Center, was called home. An ingenious carpenter, Vic passed his creativity on to his children and grandchildren. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Vic considered his family his greatest achievement. Vic  will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lois, of 69 years; children, Debra (Randall) Sportel, Dawn (Ray) Wilson, Steve Maier, Randall (Paige) Maier; grandchildren, Benjamin (Ashley) Sportel, Reuben (Rachel) Sportel, Samuel (Katie) Sportel, Mattea Sportel, Leah (Joe) McDonald, Ryan (Brianna) Dixon, Anna (Adam) Nowak, Noah Maier, Sophia Maier, Lydia Maier, Elijah Maier; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Doris Magle, brothers, Simeon (Dona) Maier, Merle Maier, David (Marlene) Maier; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Arlene (Julius) Kuiper, Roger Snoeyink, Char (Orin) Gelderloos, Vernon (Jeannie) Snoeyink, Gerald (Carol) Snoeyink, Nancy (James) McGlothlin, Sharon Snoeyink (David Engbers); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Arnold, Alice Burgess, Lester, and Lawrence. There will be a graveside service and burial for the family only at Blain Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Corinth Reformed Church, 129 100th St. SE, on Saturday, December 9, from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm with a memorial service celebrating Vic’s life beginning at 2:00 pm. Pastor Jason Nagel will officiate. The service will be live-streamed at www.corinthreformed.church/live. Memorial contributions may be made to Guiding Light Mission. He was a “remarkable fella.”
