Lloyd Howard DeVries, age 79, of Green Lake, MI, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 26, 2023. Lloyd was born November 3rd, 1943, in Princeton, MN, the 7th son of Albert and Wilma DeVries. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served most of that time in the Pacific Fleet and had an early out for education just before the Vietnam War began. Lloyd attended Calvin College (University) and Michigan State University. He then worked for Boise Cascade for several years before starting and operating Michigan Envelope. Later he sold that company to his employees and he and Phyllis spent many winters in Texas. They were longtime members of Peace Church in Middleville, MI. He married his dear wife, Phyllis VanDam on September 1, 1967. Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, in 2022. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Glen, John, and Robert; and sister, Jean Wark. Lloyd will be deeply missed by his brothers, Gerald (Eileen) DeVries, Marvin (Sharon) DeVries, Clarence DeVries, Larry DeVries, Dale DeVries; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara (David) DeVries, Linda (Jerome) Perkins, Paul VanDam, Fran DeVries, Alice DeVries; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, all of whom he loved as if they were his own children. The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, November 7, from 10 to 11 am at Peace Church, 6950 Cherry Valley Road, Middleville, MI; where a service in celebration of Lloyd's life will begin at 11:00 AM; with Rev. Paul DeVries and Rev. Bob Hudberg, officiating. Lloyd loved his alma mater, Calvin University, and requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory be made to the Lloyd DeVries Scholarship Fund at Calvin University.
