Rodney Darrell Cromer, age 66, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 26, 2024. Rod was born July 24, 1957, in Garden City, MI, one of seven children born to Huston and Helen Cromer. A man of strong faith, Rod loved to share his love for the Lord and the assurance of salvation that was his. He was a strong family man and was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, who provided well for his family. Rod was dedicated to his work. He loved his work and the people he worked with. He began his career in air freight nearly 50 years ago, working for just one company. He worked at Emery Air Freight (later Emery Worldwide) before it was acquired by UPS Global Freight Forwarding, where, for the past 20 years, he has worked as an operations manager and supervisor. Rod was an avid bass fisherman. He also really enjoyed the time he spent hunting with his father. He was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Cromer; grandson, Jacob Cromer; parents, Huston and Helen Cromer; brother, Jerry Cromer; and sister, Brenda Koths. Rod will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathy of 43 years; children, Renee and Dave Atwood, Chelsey Cromer, Andrew and Cari Cromer, Kyle and Ashley Cromer; grandchildren, Addison and Weston Atwood, Natalie and Tyler Cromer, Jonathan, Olivia, and Theodore Cromer, Ryleigh, Paisley, Sawyer, and McKinlee Cromer; sisters and brother, Reba and Jeff Hartley, Janet and Jamie Graves, Norma and Nick LaVallee, Russell Cromer; his brothers-in-law, Larry Koths, Garry and Lisa Oswald, Mark Oswald; many nieces and nephews. Visitation and the funeral service will be held at Ada Bible Church - Kentwood Campus, 2045 68th Street SE, Caledonia, MI 49316. Visitation with Rod's family will be Sunday, June 2, from 3 - 6 PM, and on Monday, June 3, from 10 - 10:45 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM on Monday. The service will be live-streamed at https://control.resi.io/webplayer/video.html?id=6e1750be-dc0d-4666-83bf-6970e0cea7e1. The interment will be in Alaska Cemetery. Goodbye to my long-time friend and colleague. You were not a mere acquaintance or just a co-worker. You were a valued advisor, counselor and example of what all men should aspire to be. Your dignity and patience are inspiring. The only consolation one can offer is that the greatness of a loss is the measure of its antecedent gain.

Rest in peace Rodney.
