Maria Piccione, age 73, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Born and raised in Castellammare, del Golfo, Sicily, Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and it would fill her with joy spending time with them and going to their activities. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, and dancing. Maria and Gaetano owned and operated Faro's, their pizza restaurant for 28 years. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Gaetano; sons, Mario Piccione, Leonardo (Tonya) Piccione, Gaetano (Tina) Picciona Jr.; grandchildren, Gaetano (Logan) Piccione, Mario Piccione Jr., Massimo Piccione, Gaetano Piccione III, Maria Piccione, Nadia Piccione, Luciano Piccione; nephew, Corrado Ferri; sister, Angela Vitale; brother, Gito (Anna) Vitale; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Giuseppina (Giovanni) Faso, Franca Piccione, Gino (Lia) Piccione, Angelo (Mary) Piccione, Stella (Giuseppe) Russo, Giuseppe (Jo Ann) Piccione; aunt, Soccosa Barone; and several beloved nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonardo and Anna Vitale; brother, Domenic Vitale; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Luisa and Domonic Barone. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, April 10, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE; where a Rosary will be recited at 5:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Thursday, April 11, 2024, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1213 52nd Street, SE, Kentwood; with Father Peter Vu, as Celebrant. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Maria may be made to the Down's Syndrome Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
