Judith (Judy) Potter Dayton (age 75) died November 29,2023 following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and a recent fall. She was born on January 29, 1948 in Glens Falls, NY and given the name Judith Marie by her parents Robert and Rebecca (Chapman) Potter. She graduated from South Glens Falls High School and attended Houghton College for a brief period before becoming a wife, mother, and successful businesswoman. She finished her career as Vice President of Quality & Production Control shortly after receiving the President’s Award at Bank of America.

Judy was an active member of the churches she attended through the years, most recently at Friendship Christian Reformed Church in Byron Center, MI. She loved singing in the choir, serving as a leader for Vacation Bible School and Women’s Coffee Break, and being a special friend to the GEMS group at Friendship CRC. Judy was quite creative. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds and had a knack for writing. Every Christmas gift included a poem written especially for the recipient. She had an eye for detail and spent many hours editing the books, newsletters, and church cookbooks that she and her husband Jim published. She also had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. Although she travelled the world, one of her fondest memories was white water rafting with her kids and grandkids while celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary in the Smoky Mountains.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Friendship Christian Reformed Church, Byron Center, MI on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The funeral service will be live-streamed at: friendshipcrc.org. Judy will be buried at the Corinth Rural Cemetery in Corinth, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Judy to Faith Hospice or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Judy is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Rebecca Potter; her husband, Jim Dayton; her daughter, Liza Michelle; and great-grandson, Noah Abdullah. Surviving are her brother, Jim (Cindy) Potter of Naples, FL; her sister, Carolyn (Larry) Mayse of Punta Gorda, FL; two daughters, Kari (Steve) Hermanson of Norton Shores, MI; and Jennifer (Rich) VanTol of Byron Center, MI; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
