Mrs. Joan M. Kutch (Hedlund), age 86, passed away peacefully at the Oaks of Byron Center on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, and is now in her eternal home with our loving Savior, Jesus Christ.  Surviving is her husband of 64 years, Richard Kutch; her children, Carl (Stephanie) Kutch and Pam (Kevin) Homrich; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sister, Carleen Markle; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Laurann and David Kutch; and a niece and four nephews.  Joan received her bachelor’s degree from Alma College, taught fourth grade, and later worked part-time teaching adult basic education in Wyoming, MI.  She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who had a strong faith in the Lord and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.  Joan was active in the church corresponding with missionaries and visiting shut-ins. She saw the beauty of God’s creation in flowers and had expansive gardens at home.  A funeral service will take place Friday, August 9 at 11AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2900 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with visitation prior from 10-11AM and a luncheon to follow. Pastor Jeremy Swem will officiate.  Graveside service will be held at Blain Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church designated to either the Missionary Fund or the Fred Gallert Scholarship Fund.
