Gerri (Lemmen) Kamps, age 72, passed away on January 5, 2024, after a 15 year battle with breast cancer, and is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Gerri was born on January 29, 1951, to Herman and Shirley Engelsman. She graduated from Zeeland High School and Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Butterworth Hospital for 40 years before retiring, and found immense joy in helping others. Gerri has gone on 40 mission trips around the world, working with those who were in need. Surviving are her children, Doug and Julie Lemmen, Steve and Denise Lemmen; her daughter-in-law, Amy Engelsman; her grandchildren, Jackson, Bryce, Landon, and Eden; her sisters, Sandy and Harlan TenHarmsel, Patti and Jim Laansma, Judy and Paul VanHorn; several nieces and nephews. Per Gerri's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 11, from 4 - 7 PM at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street SE, Grand Rapids. Private interment will be in Allendale Cemetery. Gerri wanted everyone to remember her love for her family and her sense of humor. Her greatest desire was for everyone to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior so she can see you in Heaven. Please be happy for her. She has no more pain and no more tears. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Gerri will be missed by me as a friend who I worked with at Butterworth Hospital/Spectr um Health and in many Facebook posts. She was always talking about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Tears
