Duane Bert Terpstra, age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Duane was a machinist for many years who had a knack for math and measurements. He enjoyed mowing the lawn, fixing tractors and lawnmowers, and even making his own wine. Duane was also very generous with his time. He delivered for Meals on Wheels, helping anyone in need. He had a strong faith in his Lord and Savior and shared it openly to everyone he met. Duane is preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann; parents, Bert and Vergie; brother, Earl Terpstra, brothers-in-law, Duane Door and Frank Ringewold; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Door. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Tricia (Russ) Radford, Tracey (Scott) Helmholdt; grandchildren, Heather Radford, Cassidy (Andrew) Eckhart, Carter Radford, Ty Helmholdt, Trevor Helmholdt, Jameson Helmholdt; great-granddaughter, Cora; sister, Diane Koster; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Judy Terpstra, Gina (Randy) Evers, Donna Ringewold, Linda (Del) Meyer, Bonnie (Keith) Vrieswyk, Jack (Sharon) Door, Sandy (George) Sorenson, Pat (Dan) Andrakowicz; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 4 to 7 PM and Friday from 12 Noon to 1 PM, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1 PM at Stroo Funeral Home, with Pastor John Lowder, Pastor Cameron Townley and Pastor Steve Sherman officiating. Interment will be in Dorr Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gun Lake Chapel, Rush Creek Bible Church, or Moline Christian School.
