Janet J. Schmidt, age 82, of Kentwood, MI went to the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 40 years, Jerry Schmidt; children, James (Jane) Langeweg, Robert (Debra) Langeweg, Michael (Denise) Langeweg; eight grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Cal (Darlene) Kooiker; sister, Bette VanderKolk; sister-in-law, Shirley Kooiker; brother-in-law, David Schmidt. Per Jan's request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, at 11:00 AM at Kentwood Community Church, 1200 60th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508. The family welcomes you to stay after the service for a luncheon and time to fellowship. Per Jan's wishes, please NO flowers, instead will you consider a donation in her memory to Faith Hospice or Camp Beechpoint.

My heart goes out to you and your family during this time. Janet was such a precious part of our KCC family, and her life touched many with love, kindness, and faith. We thank God for the beautiful years you shared together and for the legacy she leaves behind.
May the Lord surround you with His peace, comfort your heart, and strengthen you day by day. As it is written, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
