Mary Ellen Hagen, aged 83, of Alto, MI, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 64 years, Joseph P. Hagen; her daughters, Jill (Peter) Nethercott, and Holly Hagen; her grandchildren, Katie (Joe Swiecki) Nethercott, and Delilah Nethercott. Also missing her are her brother, Tom Drummond; nephew, Tim; niece, Lisa; and numerous dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Adele Drummond. Growing up on Pickerel Lake in Newaygo, MI, Mary Ellen enjoyed spending time on the water, was an accomplished slalom skier, and loved all things nature and animals. She was an avid reader and loved music and dancing. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved enthusiastically and unconditionally. Her kindness, sense of humor, and welcoming spirit were what made her such a delightful person who brought joy to so many people. The family will greet relatives and friends at a Memorial Service on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 11 am at the Douglas Walker Park Clubhouse, 1195 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI. Private family committal services will have already taken place at Rosedale Memorial Park. Contributions may be made in Mary Ellen's memory to help support Scholarships through the K.I.N.D. Fund (unicefusa.org), or to assist senior dogs at The Grey Muzzle Organization (greymuzzle.org). |
