James Henry DeHaan, age 90, of Byron Center, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 26, 2026. Jim proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a gifted carpenter and used his skills even in his retirement. He was preceded in death by sisters, Jean (Bernie) VanderVeen, Betty DeHaan and Ruth (Bob) Bosscher. A quiet and gentle man, Jim will be deeply missed by his family. He was the beloved husband of Ruth for 63 years; the father of Mike (Kim) DeHaan, Shelly (Jon) Visser, Cindy (Ken) Seif; grandfather of Jamie (Jorge) Zenz, Nicole Seif, Seth (Alayna) Visser, Grace Visser, Zoe (Connor) Petersen, Sam DeHaan; grandpa great to Auden Zenz, Colson Zenz, Sutton Visser, and Emmett Visser. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Therese (the late Wilbur) DeVries, Nancy (Ken) Sarich; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, March 29, from 6 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home (1095 68th St. SE) and Monday, March 30, from 10 - 10:45 am prior to the service at Princeton Christian Reformed Church, 5330 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, where the memorial service will begin at 11 am, with his nephew, Rev. John DeVries officiating. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery. In memory of Jim, memorial contributions may be made to Streams of Hope or Gentiva Hospice. |
