J. Carl Huizenga, age 99, of Kentwood, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Carl served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a faithful member of the Christian Reformed Church. Carl began his working career at General Motors before moving to the Grand Rapids area. He then worked for TRW where he retired after many years of service. After he retired Carl liked to hunt, fish, and work part time at the Baker Book House. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; son, Dale; daughter, Debra Flokstra; daughter and son-in-law, Sue (Duane) Kas; brothers, Louis, Ronald, and Fred Huizenga; and brother-in-law, James Teman. Carl will be lovingly remembered by his son-in-law, Donald Flokstra; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Teman; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. A service in remembrance of Carl will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday with Rev. Merlin Buwalda, officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Caledonia, MI. Contributions in memory of Carl may be made to the American Cancer Society. |
