Marilyn Jean Deemter, age 93, of Byron Center peacefully went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Marilyn worked at Hekmans Cookie Factory from 1951 - 1953. She married Gerald on August 20, 1953, shortly after he returned home from the service. Marilyn also enjoyed working at Honderd's Jewelry for 15 years and Hulst Dry Cleaners for 6 years. She was an active member of Cutlerville East Christian Reformed Church. Gerald and Marilyn spent 58 wonderful years together until his passing on July 23, 2012. Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; son, Jerry; brothers, Marvin (Esther) Honderd; Roger (Til) Honderd; parents, Martin and Tillie Honderd. Lovingly remembering Marilyn are her children, Cheryl (Roger) Gunnink, Mark (Kathryn) Deemter, Sandy (Jack) Hartman; daughter-in-law, ToniLynn (Al) Howerzyl; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters, Ilah Van Wieren, Carol Honderd; sister-in-law, Ruth Deemter; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Cutlerville East CRC, 501 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49548, on Tuesday, March 24, from 11 am to 12:30 pm, where the funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm. Rev. Sacha Walicord will officiate. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Marilyn may be made to Cutlerville East CRC. |
