Dennis Hoeksema December 8, 1932 – December 19, 2025 Dennis Hoeksema, age 93, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, and is now with Jesus, his Lord and Savior. He lived a life marked by strong Christian faith, generous service, and deep love for his family. Dennis was married for 63 years to his beloved wife, Marcia, who preceded him in death in 2016. Also preceding him are his sisters Carol and Marlene, and brothers Jim and Ron. A loving, and caring man, Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found great joy in spending time with his children and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. Family was his greatest blessing, and he cherished every moment spent together. Dennis grew up working in the family Hardware store in Dorr, MI. He and his brother Ron took it over from their Dad and ran it for many years before retiring. Dennis also proudly served as a United States Army veteran, where he played the trumpet in the Army band. He also served as a Cadet counselor for over 30 years. He is survived by his daughter Sherry Yff, his daughter Cindy Visser and her husband, Ken Visser, his brother John (Mary) Hoeksema, his sister-in-law Gert Hoeksema, and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family takes comfort in the promise of Scripture: “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:21) A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hillside CRC Missions for additional support for them. We are very thankful for all the many people who touched his life and provided care for him over the years past. While he is dearly missed here on earth, we take comfort in knowing he is spending Christmas with Jesus. Merry Christmas, Love, the family.
