Howard J. VandenToorn, age 79, of Kentwood, MI went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 19, 2025.  Howard was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and he proudly served in the U.S. Army.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Marie VandenToorn; and stepmother, Margie VandenToorn.  Howard is lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Karen; children, Beth (Neil) Dendekker, Holly van den Toorn, Lindsey VandenToorn; grandchildren, Cate, Naomi, Mattea, and James Dendekker, Asher van den Toorn Gray; brother and sister, Sue (George) Lubbers, Russ (Carol) VandenToorn; sisters-in-law, Lynn (Dennis) Balzer, Georgia O’Neill; step-siblings, Sally (Arlin) Post, Carolyn (Karl) Bleeker, Larry (Pam) VanVeldhuizen; many nieces and nephews.  The family welcomes visitors on Saturday, December 27, from 6 to 8 PM at Stroo Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 29, at 11 AM at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM.  Dr. Joel Beeke will officiate.  Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in memory of Howard may be made to PRTS - Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary Student Support, 2965 Leonard St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525.
