James A. "Jim" Westra, age 78, of Wyoming, MI, entered into the arms of Jesus on November 19, 2025. Jim was known for his deep love for his family and friends and his quick sense of humor. He was a faithful believer in Christ and now will spend eternity with the Lord. He began his career at the age of 17, at Towne & Country Hardware with Rich Herrema and later owning and operating Caledonia Hardware with Bob Bodary. He was a long time member of Home Acres Reformed Church.He was preceded in death by the love of his life of 53 years, Sharon; his parents, Arthur and Cornelia Westra; his brother, Bob Westra; his sister-in-law, Ruth Meringa; and his brother-in-law, Ken Meringa. Jim will be dearly missed by his children, Nancy (Jerry) Slagh, Ken (Kelley) Westra, Bob (Jill) Westra, Mike (Denise) Westra; grandchildren, Caleb, Bobby, Emma Carole, Daniel, Christopher, Lauren, Paige, Maddie, Stephen, Allison, Zach and Emma, Christian, Austin, Morgan, Braydan, and Anthony Senkowski; his great grandchildren Blake, Jonah, Brooks, Emery, baby Westra; his brother, Jerry (Janice) Westra; his sisters, Jan (Ron) Marsman, Cindy (Bill) Cariano; his sisters-in-law, Dianne Westra, Jeanette Meringa, Susan (Wayne) Ondersma; as well as many nieces and nephews. As Jim requested, cremation has taken place. A service in remembrance of Jim will be held at Woodhaven Reformed Church located at 3959 68th St SW, Byron Center, MI 49315 on Sunday November 30, at 3:00pm with a meal following the service, family will be available to meet before the service at 2:00pm.Pastor Wayne Ondersma and Pastor Gordon Waddilove officiating. Interment will be at Dutton Cemetery next to his bride. Memorial contributions may be made to The Pier Church. |
