Helen (Rozema) Scholten, born November 4, 1924, died on October 13, 2025, and is now resting in peace in the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Helen is survived by her children, Linda (James) Morrow, Carole (Arend) Vander Pols, Janice Myers, and her Danish son, Hans (Annie) Sondergaard; her grandchildren, Kristen (Jeremy) Gifford, Michael (Stephanie) Myers, Rebecca (Christopher) Mortensen, Nickolas (Christina) Morrow and William (Nicole) Vander Pols; her great grandchildren, Juniper Myers, Marcus and Brendan Myers, Patrick and Connor Gifford, Evie, Auggie and Maddie Morrow; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by Herman E. Scholten, her loving husband of 69 years; two sons, William and Brian; all 13 of her siblings and spouses; and several nieces and nephews. Helen served alongside her husband as missionaries for the Christian Reformed Church in Nigeria, Liberia, Guam, and Rehoboth. Helen lived in the house she and Herm built when they married in 1949. She loved her neighborhood and her neighbors. She was a member of First Cutlerville Christian Reformed Church for 76 years and shared deep friendships and rich fellowship with members there. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, October 17, 2025, at First Cutlerville Christian Reformed Church, 1425 68th Street SW. The service will be Live Streamed on YouTube, at First Cutlerville CRC Youtube, Live. Interment in Winchester Cemetery. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, October 16, 4 to 7 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508, and Friday from 10 am to 10:45 am at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made in Helen’s name to Resonate Global Missions and First Cutlerville CRC Neighborhood Evangelism Fund.
