James Gregory Shafer, age 50, was unexpectedly called away from us, and to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 2, 2025. He loved going for motorcycle rides, as well as repairing and maintaining cars and motorcycles. James also enjoyed working as an electrician for many years. In that time, he gained an abundance of information and skills which came to be very handy as he could repair almost anything at home. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Fielding Shafer. James will be greatly missed by his family and friends whom he loved dearly; his mother, Lola D. Shafer; brother, Richard (Brenda) Shafer; nephew, Logan; loving partner, Geralda Delacruz and her children; uncle, Rob (Linda) Shafer, and many cousins and extended family members. A funeral service for James will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 1 PM at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, with an hour of visitation, beginning at 12 Noon, prior to the service. Interment will be in Blain Cemetery.
