Myles Kuperus, age 74, unexpectedly ran into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease and esophageal constrictions. Myles was born on May 16, 1951, in Drachten, Freisland, the Netherlands to Nicholas and Arlene (Talma) Kuperus. Myles was the youngest of twelve siblings and immigrated with his family to Sussex, NJ when he was two years old. Growing up on a farm, he was always more interested in the machinery than in the work at hand. This passion for trucks, led him to begin his career driving a dump truck hauling sand. After meeting the love of his life, Glennys Stroo, who taught at Sussex Christian School for two years, he followed her back to Michigan where they eventually married, settled in her hometown of Hudsonville, and raised two wonderful children, Erin & Kevin. In 1985, Myles stopped driving full-time and decided to focus on his love for trucking by starting his own business, Kuperus Trucking, which was founded in 1987. Throughout the years of growing a successful company from the ground up, Myles himself remained active in dispatching, picking up, and delivering loads as it was needed. He was an industry leader in fuel efficiencies and also improvements to the environment. Myles was passionate about the stewardship of his resources and often supported causes near to his heart. He founded Kuperus Trucking on the same values that he held throughout his life: Faith & Family. Myles loved his family and loved Jesus even more. He was an active member of Hillcrest CRC where he faithfully served as an elder and was part of the adult education committee. He prayed often for his children and granddaughter’s knowledge and love of Jesus to abound more and more and that they would strive to live lives pleasing to the Lord. Myles will be lovingly remembered by Glennys, his wife of 48 years; his children, Erin (John) Griffin, and Kevin (Mary) Kuperus; his granddaughter, Laura Griffin, who brought him great joy; his siblings, Wilma (Adrian) VandenAkker, Pete (Shirley) Kuperus, Janet Borgdorff, Jaltina (Rick) Kehr; his in-laws, Annette Kuperus, and John (Ann) Stroo; and many nieces and nephews. Myles was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Arlene Kuperus; parents in-law, John and Marge Stroo; siblings Trina (Louis) Tolman, Florence (Henk) Prinzen, Anita (Bob) Collins, John Kuperus, Henny (Casey) Sytsema, Simmie (Ben) Perri, Dorothy Kuperus; in-laws, Peter Borgdorff, and Elaine Stroo. The family will greet friends and relatives on Monday, July 14, from 5 – 8 PM at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church. A service in celebration of Myles’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 15, at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church, 3617 Hillcrest Rd, Hudsonville, 49426, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service from 10 – 10:45 AM. A luncheon will follow the service. Interment will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be given to Hillcrest Benevolence or David’s House Ministries. |
