Benjamin Mark VanValkenburg, born May 18, 1982, died on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 43 years old. He died from complications of Endocarditis which is an infection on his heart valves that permeated into his blood and other parts of his body. He was a loving father and son. His entire family loved him throughout his life. Ben is survived by his daughters, Kayla and Nicole VanValkenburg; his mother, Kathy VanValkenburg (nee Latimer); his father, Thomas VanValkenburg; his ex-wife, Mindy VanValkenburg (nee Peterson); nieces, Alexa Peterson, Aleiah Peterson, Haley Peterson, and Hanna Peterson; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will also be remembered by Mindy's family, Dale and Carol Peterson, Dave and Charla Peterson, and Tim Peterson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 5, 2025, with visitation with the family an hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 am at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. He will be buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, Kentwood, MI in a private family burial ceremony.
