Sharon Marie Rood, age 77, of Grand Rapids, passed away into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Last year she lost the love of her life, David Rood. They were married for 55 wonderful years. David, a proud disabled veteran, is holding her once again. First in her family to go to college, Sharon was very proud of being a secretary. She loved her motorhome and camping, especially with her camping club for 10 years. Sharon would drive that big motorhome all over the United States. Some of her best times she would say. Sharon and Dave loved casinos, her cats, traveling to Las Vegas, Florida, and Japan, many times to see her son, Davey and Esther, and to spoil her first grandchild, Shayla. She loved her sister, Shirley, who she called her second mom. So many good times with Shirley and the family playing cards, on the boat on Hardy Dam, bowling trips, Deer Widows, Canada, or just stopping over for coffee. Sharon laughed the hardest on a trip to Hawaii with Shirley and her nieces when they made her the Jester. She had a big laugh with a big heart, always sending birthday cards, thank you cards, thinking of you cards. Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her sons, David II (Esther) Rood, granddaughter, Shayla; Daniel (Allison) Rood; grandchildren, Clark Russell, May Louise. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Leroy Karnes, James Karnes, June Ottan, Shirley Phillips, Ken Karnes and Jerry Karnes. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will greet visitors on Friday, April 18, from 4 - 7 pm and Saturday, April 19, from 10 - 11 am prior to the funeral service beginning at 11 am all at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. A private interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Family Promise of Grand Rapids. |
