Service: A private family service will be held.
Cemetery: Winchester, Byron Center, MI
Memorials: Faith Hospice

On February 13, 2025, the Lord took home Robert Alan Derks, age 76, of Byron Center, Michigan.  Bob struggled with Dementia for several years.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Evelyn Derks, his stepdad, Orie Koppenol, and brother-in-law, Donald Jarka.

Bob is survived by sisters, Donna Jarka and Mary (David) Meengs, and brothers, Henry (Liz) Derks and Randall (Vanessa) Derks, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.

After graduating from South Christian High School, Bob joined the Air Force from 1966-1970.  He served at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, as a repairman for in-flight refueling systems for B-52's and C-135 aircraft.  Bob was very proud of his years in the service.

He worked at Steelcase for about 25 years as a machine repairman.  His hobby was repairing and restoring cars, going to car shows, and car swap meets.

We want to thank the staff at Railside Assisted Living Center and Faith Hospice for their loving care for Bob during his stay.

A private memorial service will be held on March 1, 2025, for immediate family members.

Contributions may be made to Faith Hospice, at 8214 Pfeiffer Farms Dr SW, Byron Center, MI 49315
