Joyce Arlene DeYoung, age 89, of Byron Center, peacefully went home to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; parents, John and Helena Griffen; brothers-in-law, Ed VanDyke and Dutch Veldhouse. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her children, Marcia Post, Bob (Char) DeYoung, Diane (Doug) Post, Ron (Tansy) DeYoung; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley VanDyke, Betty Veldhouse; and her nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Monday, February 3, from 9:45 - 10:45 am at First Byron Christian Reformed Church, 8541 Byron Center Ave. SW, where the funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be in Grandville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Christian High School Building Fund. Every sunset reminds me that my time is drawing near. When my voice on earth is silent and Jesus' voice I'll hear. With joy! I've felt His nearness as I've traveled on this earth: But then my eyes will see Him as I fly away in joyful mirth. Will I soar up like an eagle, or be carried on angel's wings, or will the arms of Jesus lift me as I hear the angels sing? It matters not the way I go, for my eyes will see my Lord, and my joy will have no ending where I'm safe forever more.
