Service Information

Betsy Bartleson
Memorial Service: 11 AM, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Shawnee Park Christian Reformed Church
Memorials: Shawnee Park CRC     2255 Tecumseh Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI  49506  https://www.shawneeparkcrc.org/

Elizabeth Jane (Betsy) Bartleson, age 63, of Grand Rapids, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 15, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her father, Robert C. Bartleson; sister, Connie Johnson.

Lovingly remembering Betsy are her son, Jonathan (Ashlee) Bartleson; grandchildren Jaxson, Jacoby and Teddi; mother, Laura Bartleson; brothers and sisters, Ted Bartleson, Heidi (Gene) Boone, Scott (Kelley) Bartleson, Bob (Jennifer) Bartleson, Jonathan (Tina) Bartleson, Mimi Bartleson (Jon Vandervelde); brother-in-law, Robert Johnson; many nieces and nephews.

Betsy was born on July 13, 1961, and grew up in the Oakdale neighborhood of Grand Rapids and on the Thornapple River in Caledonia. People who knew Betsy loved her for her humor, her kindness, and her generosity. Betsy was outgoing and good-natured, making friends everywhere she went. She showed her love by giving her time and attention to those in need and bringing silliness and sunshine to the nieces, nephews, and grandchildren she adored.  Known as “Beppa” to her grandchildren, she loved when they gave her “tackle hugs” and played games with her at the kitchen table. Although she lived a few hours from her grandchildren, she often sent sweet treats and toys their way addressing the care packages to “my favorite people”. She always took time to make them feel special, listening to their stories and telling quite a few of her own.  She loved to knit and share what she made with the people in her life. She enjoyed making others laugh and often felt God guiding her to use her talents for good.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Shawnee Park Christian Reformed Church with a luncheon and time of fellowship with the family following the service.

Memorial contributions in honor of Betsy may be made to Shawnee Park Christian Reformed Church, 2255 Tecumseh Dr SE Grand Rapids, MI 49506.

Betsy was my beloved niece. As a small child, she loved to sit on Uncle Abe‘s lap. She loved chasing butterflies on the way to Oakdale Christian School. She always had a joke to tell the passengers when she drove the bus for the Holland Home. When her precious sister Connie Sue died, she drove her mom and me to Chicago for the funeral. She adored her grandchildren Jaxson, Jacobi, and Teddi, her son, Jonathan, and her daughter-in-law , Ashlee. On Sundays, she would pick up an elderly person at Raybrook and bring her to church at Shawnee Park. She was a kind and loving person. She loved her Lord and Savior. I love and miss you, Betsy. Rest in peace.
Aunt Connie.
