Paul Dean Irvine, faithful follower of Jesus, was promoted to his place in heaven on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at age 88. Paul grew up in Reed City where he was loved by many. He and Phyllis moved to Grand Rapids and lived in the Byron Center area until recently when he and his wife of 68 years of marriage moved to Story Point in Rockford. Paul lived a life full of love for others. He always had time to pause and notice those around him, often singing them a song. He loved music and could add harmony to any song. He enjoyed his harmonicas, collecting many over the years. In his early years, he played violin and many stringed instruments, as well as writing poetry. Paul was a collector of canes and enjoyed showing them and giving them to others. But mostly, Paul enjoyed people, and people enjoyed him. Paul lived quietly and confidently, knowing he was accepted by God through Jesus’ sacrifice for him on the cross. He was secure in God’s love for him, and was able to share that love with others. Paul was preceded in death by his brother and 2 sisters and the last of his immediate family on this earth. Paul will be deeply missed by his wife of 68 years, Phyllis; children, Ronald Irvine, Kay Wood, Steven (Kimberly) Irvine; grandchildren, Joel (Cindy) Irvine, Evan (Courtney) Irvine, Myka Irvine, Josh (Christy) Wood, Jesse (Audrey) Wood, Jake (Alli) Wood, Corinna (Zachariah) Bogue, Kendra (Dan) Surman, Kyle Irvine; 13 great grandchildren. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 12 noon to 1 pm at Good News Baptist Church, 6830 Eastern Ave., SE; Grand Rapids MI 49508; where a service in celebration of his promotion into heaven will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Brian Cederquist officiating. Contributions in memory of Paul may be made to Good News Baptist Church. |
