Dennis James Stellard, age 74, of Byron Center, went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Denny had a servant's heart and would help out family and neighbors at the drop of a hat. He enjoyed working with his hands on many projects, loved fishing and going to his grandchildren's activities. He retired from the Grand Rapids Public School system after 38 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Stellard; and sister, Betty Balke. Denny will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Elaine; children, Robert Stellard, Barbara Ter Beek, Brenda (Keith) Berg, Betsy Heyboer; grandchildren, Logan Ter Beek, Lucas (Kelsey) Ter Beek, Kendra Berg, Brianna Berg, Keira Berg, Braelyn Berg, Sydney Heyboer, Colin Heyboer; sisters, Carol (Gary) Waldron, Ruth (Bob) Jones, Merlin Balke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cal (Carol) Idema, Carl Idema, Cliff (Sheryl) Idema, Karen Arnett, Mary (Jerry) Fleek, Kathie (Steve) Jansen; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, and cousins. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, September 12, from 4 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home (1095 68th St. SE). The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 13, at Stroo Funeral Home, with Rev. Jacob London officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
