John W. Archer, age 83, of the Grand Rapids area, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. John honorably served his country in the US Army and worked his entire career as an accountant. He was a talented artist and enjoyed oil painting and photography. He loved classical music and opera. An avid traveler, he traveled all of Michigan and internationally.  John was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Ethel; and younger brother, David. Surviving are his two daughters, Laura and Ann; three grandsons and one great-grandson; brother, James L. Archer; sister, Mary L. Decker; and several nieces and nephews. As requested, cremation has taken place, and John will be laid to rest in the family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the West Michigan Opera
