Delbert Charles Dunn, 88, of Kentwood, MI, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
Delbert was born on December 15, 1935 in Sabina, Ohio to Frank and Dorothy Dunn. He served in the Air Force from 1956 - 1960. Delbert married Betty (Lucas) Dunn on December 29, 1958 in Wilmington, Ohio. They enjoyed 65 years together before Betty's passing last May. Delbert graduated from The Ohio State University in 1966. He worked as an insurance agent and pension manager - last associated with Lincoln National Life insurance in Grand Rapids, MI. Delbert was a member of the Gideons International Organization faithfully serving in nearly every state office including three years as Michigan State President. He was a member of Kentwood Community Church and served many years as a Stephen Minister. Delbert loved watching sports and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Delbert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his son, Dave (Missy) Dunn of Byron Center, MI; grandchildren, Taylor (Nick) Wyatt of Denver, Co, Madison Dunn, and Ellie Dunn; sister-in-law, Jan (Hank) Majoewsky of Ocala, Fl; nephews, Gary (Susan) Dunn, Mark (Michelle) Dunn, and Diana Dunn all of whom reside in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Dunn; daughter, JoEllen Dunn; parents, Frank and Dorothy Dunn; siblings and siblings-in-law, Dale and Tillie Dunn, Herb and Lois Dunn, Robert Lucas.
A memorial service will be held at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49508 on Sunday, September 1 at 1:30 pm Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service beginning at 12:30 pm. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
