Robert "Bob" James Manning, age 82, of Caledonia, MI, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Monday, March 4, 2024.  Bob cherished spending time with family and enjoyed hosting family events at the house on Duncan Lake.  He enjoyed collecting historic memorabilia, swords, knives, and was an avid hunter.  Bob and Jean loved to travel and go on adventures to lighthouses in Michigan and Florida.  He owned his own carpet and floor covering installation service for over 50 years.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Maybelle Manning; brother, Fred (Gerri) Manning; sisters, Virginia (Everett) Dukes, Patty Loew, Etta May (Johnny) Coggin, Jean (Richard) Popma, Klio (Sam) Nusbaum; brother-in-law, Kenneth Frowein.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Jean; son, Robert M. Manning; daughter, Tara (Luke) Gravelyn; grandchildren, Keenan Manning, Autumn Gravelyn, Violet Gravelyn; sisters-in-law, Joan Frowein, Jane (Dal) Zimmer; several beloved nieces and nephews.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 12, from 11 AM - 12 Noon, followed by the funeral service at 12 Noon, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 - 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508.  Chaplain Bob DeWeese will officiate.  Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
