Cheryl Ann Poll, age 64, was called home to glory on January 26, 2024. Cheryl loved to visit lighthouses, museums, national parks, and any other historical sites she could, sometimes to the dismay of her young kids who were maybe a little sick of museums and definitely thought there had to be more exciting things to do. Though her children still laugh and cherish the memory of the time she made them go to Niagara Falls multiple times (the exact number is still debated) on one single vacation. She loved collecting bells, lighthouses, and many beautiful Christmas ornaments, and making lovely displays with them. As an avid sports fan, Cheryl loved watching hockey, baseball, and football. She'd frequently let the kids stay up late to watch the west coast hockey games and she never gave up hope that someday the Lions would win the Super Bowl. Cheryl loved her grandchildren and was always so excited when one more was added to the crew! As a retired labor and delivery nurse, she especially loved holding the newest grand babies right up until the end. During her final years as her mind began to fade, we could still see the light and joy that watching the grandkids brought her, she'd often giggle at their crazy antics during visits. We are thankful for the hope she had in her savior Jesus Christ, and that she is now whole, healed, and at peace in His arms. Well done, good and faithful servant. "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Romans 18:8. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in her honor to Riley's Grove Assisted Living Facility in Zeeland. The love she had for the staff there, and the love they showered on her and our family was such a blessing in her final years. A private graveside service was held at Winchester Cemetery. Her children will receive visitors from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, February 2, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508. Cheryl was a long-time member of Dutton United Reformed Church, where a recent sermon very appropriately summarized where her hope was found.
