Chris Empie, age 73, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Chris was a devoted mother, grandmother (mema), and great grandmother, and also had many adopted kids who called her Mema or Miss Chris. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Melissa and Angela; her sisters, Marjorie, Jean, Willa, and Doris; and her brothers, Barney, Frank, Alvin, Junior, Doug, and Jim. Chris is survived by Jack Empie; her children, Tess and Dann Cairns, Mark Haveman, Jackie "Tootie" and Robb Gipe; grandchildren, Alysa and Martin, Lyndi, Jenna and Rex, Madison, Deanna and Chris, Austin and Breanna, Jacob and Kelsey, Joshua and Ronie, Tucker; great grandchildren, Abigail, Olivia, Paul, Patrick, Hadley, Junior, with one more on the way; brothers, Charlie and Tom; as well as many nieces and nephews. As Chris requested, cremation has taken place.
