Karen Joy Diekevers (Remelts), age 79, of Dorr, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 19, 2024. Karen loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and traveling. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheri; parents, John and May Remelts; and sister, Gayla Taylor. Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Gordan; children, Doug Diekevers, Julie Diekevers, Mike (Stacey) Diekevers; grandchildren, Katie Dekker, Doug Diekevers, Jr. (Anastasia Banks), Abby (Tyler) Whitmire, Ridge (Jess) Cremeans, Cody (Heather) Cremeans, Lexi (Dylan) Martin, Steven Meza, Lauren Meza (Nana), Colton Diekevers, Gage Diekevers, Koert Diekevers, Nash (Mia) Diekevers, nine great grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary (Jim) Nettenstrom, Bonnie (Burt) Houseman; brother-in-law, Steve Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, January 21, from 2 - 4 pm at Stroo Funeral Home; and on Monday, January 22, at Second Byron Center CRC, 7588 Byron Center Ave. SW, from 10 - 11 am prior to the funeral service beginning at 11 am. Rev. Rick Vanderwal officiating. Interment will be in Dorr Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Second Byron Center CRC Benevolent Fund.
