David Brian DeBoer was ushered safely into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, October 26, 2023, after a two-year battle with Sarcoma. He was born on June 20, 1963, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to William and June (Buteyn) DeBoer and married the love of his life, Beth (DeVries) on June 27, 1987. David and Beth lived mostly in Hudsonville but in 2021, moved to a barrier-free home in Byron Township. David is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Beth; his dear children, Rachel DeBoer, Sarah and Scott Steenwyk, and Andrew and Kailey DeBoer; his 5 wonderful grandchildren, Mitchell, Selah and Benjamin Steenwyk, and William (Liam) and Lincoln DeBoer. (David felt especially honored that his grandsons Liam and Benji have “David” as their middle names); his father, William (Alvina) DeBoer; his sister, Susan (Rodney) Zwier; mother-in-law, Jean (Allen) DeVries; and Beth’s brothers, Mark (Michelle) DeVries, and Darryl (Shelli) DeVries; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. David was preceded in death by his mother, June DeBoer; his father-in-law, Allen DeVries, his maternal grandparents, Casey and Emmeline Buteyn of Oostburg, WI, and paternal grandparents, William and Dorothy DeBoer of Berwyn, IL. Spending time with his family was always very important to David. They enjoyed many special trips together over the years to places like New England, Washington DC, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, Yellowstone, Alaska, and many visits to Wisconsin to spend time with relatives. David loved being with his grandchildren and reading books to them. David served as deacon and elder in several of the churches where they worshipped over the years. He and Beth have been so blessed to be a part of Grace Fellowship OPC for the last 4 years. David received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Trinity Christian College in 1985. David spent most of his career in commercial banking in Grand Rapids working for Chase (and its predecessors NBD and Bank One), and Mercantile Bank. He was the COO of Executive Air Transport/Tulip City Air Service until he left the workforce in early 2020 just before the Covid-19 outbreak began. Visitation will take place at Grace Fellowship OPC on Monday, October 30 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, and 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Grace Fellowship OPC, 435 W. Main Ave., Zeeland, 49464, on Tuesday, October 31, at 11 AM with a luncheon to follow. A private burial service will take place in Winchester Cemetery, Byron Township. The family would like you to consider making memorial contributions to Westminster Seminary in California, Grace Fellowship OPC in Zeeland, or Faith Hospice in place of sending flowers.
