Merwyn Waayenberg, age 85, of Grand Rapids, MI, went to his heavenly home on Friday, October 6, 2023. Merwyn proudly served his country in the US Navy as a radarman on a submarine. He retired from United Parcel Service after working there for 30 plus years. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 60 years, Shirley; children, Mark Waayenberg, Shari Waayenberg Sinke; and son-in-law, Brian Sinke; sisters, Sandra Hoogenboom, Donna Meyer, Sue (Gordy) DeBlaay; sister-in-law, Janice King; and many nieces and nephews. Merwyn was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ann Waayenberg; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Bob Bredeweg; brother-in-law, Al King; and Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jake and Kathy Bouwman. The family will greet visitors on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 10 to 11 am at Frontline Bible Church, 8283 Pfeiffer Farms Dr. SW, where a memorial service will begin at 11:00 am, Pastor John Lowder will officiate.
