Robert "Bob" James Leys, Sr., age 84, of Kentwood, MI, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.  Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities.  He retired from Evans Products after many years of service.  He was preceded in death by his son, Robert James "Jamie", Jr.; parents, Russell and Leta Leys; and six brothers.  Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Peggy; children, Terri (Richard) Bonzheim, Sue (Ray) Dickson, Jason (Jennifer) Leys; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Bernie (Diane) Leys; many nieces and nephews.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18, at 11 AM at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508.  There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service from 10 - 11 AM.  Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who helped Bob for the past few years for the wonderful care they provided.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
