Gordon J. Ballast, age 85, of Grand Rapids, MI, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.  Gordon enjoyed working and playing golf outdoors and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed and remembered by his wife of 61 years, Evonne "Von"; children, Doug (Gwen) Ballast, Dawn (Randy) Baker, Dave (Jamie) Ballast, Dorie (Ted) Boomsma; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Christine (Donald) Jensen, Betty (Darl) Richardson; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Emelander, Linda VandenBerg.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, June 23, from 5 to 7 PM, also on Saturday, June 24, from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service at Stroo Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, at 11 AM, at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, Grand Rapids, 49508, with Rev. Allen Petroelje officiating.  Private interment will be in Winchester Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in honor of Gordon may be made to Holland Home.
