Virginia Mae Eady (nee Carpenter), age 94, departed this life on Sunday, June 11, 2023; in Grand Rapids, MI. She has gone to be with her Lord and to meet the family who have gone on before her. Her parents, William and Hazel Carpenter; husband, Thomas Eady; son, Thomas W. Eady, grandson, Steven W. Valkema; younger brother, Richard D. Carpenter; as well as four half brothers, Floyd, Florian, Clifford Carpenter, and Leo Petchaur; and one half sister, Fern Butler (Carpenter), preceded her in death. Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Beth Tomsu, Brenda (Allen) Gillette; one son, David (Tieara) Eady; eight grandchildren, Shelly (David) Duncan, Brent Gillette, Scott (Sherri) Gillette, David (Adrianna) Eady, Thomas Eady II, William Eady, Logan Eady, Mya Eady; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew Peterson, Matthew and Michael Duncan, Ian and Ivy Gillette, Lillian, Macie and Brandon Eady; one great-great-grandson, Hunter Duncan (Peterson); one sister-in-law, Marion Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews. Virginia was a graduate of Creston High School, class of 1947. She worked at Lear Siegler where she worked on Aviation parts. Later she worked at Beverly's, a women's apparel store. She enjoyed bowling, baking, playing cards, and dabbling in family genealogy. But above all, she loved going to church and participating in church activities. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 10 to 11 am at the Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508; where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, with Pastor Emily Sparks, officiating. Interment will be in Graceland Memorial Park and Mausoleum in a private gathering. Our deepest gratitude and thanks to both Commonwealth Senior Living and Interim Hospice for the care they provided.
