Jan Rene (Hicks) Swieringa, age 68, of Kentwood, MI, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents-in-law, David Sr. and Fern Marie (McClain) Swieringa; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, David Lee Swieringa, Ruth Ann Swieringa, David Swieringa, Jr., and Daniel Lee Swieringa. Jan is survived by her husband, John Swieringa; her parents, Kenneth and June Hicks; her brothers and sister, Douglas and Barb Hicks (Kelsey, Ali), Timothy and Kim Hicks (Samantha, Courtney), Karen and Randy Young (Jason, Tyler); her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane (James) Jessen, Jacob (Carol) Swieringa, James (Kathleen) Swieringa, Esther (Brian) Kaule, Paul Swieringa, Ruth (Christopher) Rose, Martha Swieringa, Linda Swieringa, Kim Dalga; as well as many nieces and nephews.  As Jan requested, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating Jan's life will be held at 12 PM Friday, February 17, at Immanuel Church, 325 104th Avenue, Holland, MI, with Pastor James Jeffrey officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 to 12 noon. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery.
