Ruth Meyer Monsma, age 101, of Hudsonville, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2020.  She was predeceased in 1998 by her husband, John Monsma; daughter-in-law, Marcia Monsma; and sister, Lois Dryer.  She is survived by her children; Carol (Delmar) De Jong, Richard (Opal) Monsma, Mary Monsma, and Jack (Leda) Monsma.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Ruth Monsma was a loving, caring person who was always self-sacrificing in whatever she did.  She was born on October 31, 1918, at the beginning of World War I, and had her first children during World War II.  She knew what it was like to have to make sacrifices.  She was a God-fearing woman with a spirit of servanthood that was evident to all who knew her.  She would go without, rather than see someone else lacking in something.  She loved children, not only her own, but she took in other children when there were times those children could not live at home.  She was a full-time mother who spent time volunteering in the Christian School, working in the kitchen on barbeque day.  She took many trips to California to visit her family there.  Nothing delighted her more than caring for her grandchildren and, as she got older, sometimes just sitting and watching her great-grandchildren or reading them stories.  Family was everything to her.  When asked what she would call a book about her life, she said, “It's All About My Wonderful Family”.  That family has been so blessed by such a loving Mom and she will be deeply missed.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Christian School or charity of your choice.  There will be no public services.
