Lois Jeanne Levan, age 80, of Caledonia, MI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, surrounded by her family and stories of her life.  Though she went soon, she will continue to be loved and remembered by her husband of almost 59 years, Joe; daughter Leslie Levan; and son, Joe (Katy) Levan.  Lois will be greatly missed by her four beloved grandchildren, JP, Maggie, Lukie, and Andrew; as well as her sister-in-law, Pat Matherne; nieces, Michelle (Kevin) Gentner, Melanie (Tim) Schad; nephew, Marcus (Denise) Matherne; numerous cousins and friends.  Lois (Lolo to her grandchildren) was born on October 22, 1942, in Norwalk, OH, to Jack and Ida Blackert.  She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1960, and Kent State University in 1964.  Lois met the love of her life, Joe, at Kent State.  They were married in the Catholic Church on January 30, 1965, and every day since then were each other's everything.  The sacrament of matrimony perfects the human love of spouses, strengthens their indissoluble unity and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life.  Joe and Lois provided a perfect example of that, ultimately leading to Lolo's greatest passion, other than Joe, the grandchildren she loved beyond words.  She was our pillar of strength as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who stressed the most important things in life, faith, family, morals, and integrity.  We can't remember a time when she put her own needs ahead of others.  She will be greatly missed.  There will be a funeral liturgy on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 11 AM at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd St. SE, Kentwood, MI 49508, with a visitation starting at 10 AM.  Immediately following the mass, a celebration of her life will be held at Stonewater Country Club, 7177 Kalamazoo Ave, SE, Caledonia, MI 49316, from 12:30 to 3 PM.  For those who wish, floral arrangements may be delivered to Stroo Funeral Home.
