breath on earth July 9, 2023 at 4.30 am. Concluding a journey that began in
Jamestown, Michigan on September 8, 1935, he fought the good fight, finished the
race, and kept the faith while teaching and administrating 42 years at Celeryville
Christian School in Celeryville, Ohio.

Jim was preceded in death by his faithful teaching partner and wife of 62 years,

Grit, and sister Carlene (Gary) Hoeksema.

pm Celebration of life service) at Stroo Funeral Home 1095 68 th Street SE, Grand
Rapids, MI 49508. As CS Lewis notes “now at last they were beginning Chapter One
of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever: in which
every chapter is better than the one before.” To God Be The Glory!

Memorial contribution options to consider include Celeryville Christian School,
Spectrum Health Hospice, and Covenant Christian Reformed Church. One other
option, in place of memorial contributions, is to commit to taking a younger person
to lunch and teach them something valuable, and tell them Jim Grit sent you.

Mikki, Scott and Jamie,
Prayers and comfort to you and your families. Thank you for sharing your father and mother with us for all those years. What a devotion they had to the children of Celeryville! So many childhood memories include the amazing school trips and learning experiences that we had with them both. Until my dad past last year (Paul) his ongoing joke when we were about to take off on an adventure or experience something fun, he would go back to the early AM snow storm calls...."Mr Grit just called, it's cancelled". Now I imagine he's absolutely singing his heart out and enjoying every moment!
