Julia Grace Vanden Toorn, age 19, was received into her heavenly home on Friday, June 16, 2023. Julia was born to Jon and Andrea Vanden Toorn on March 29, 2004. She was home-educated and a gifted pianist and talented photographer. She had an affinity for the beautiful: beautiful music and beautiful scenery. Hardworking and diligent, Julia shined in 4-H showing her sheep and chickens. Julia joyfully served at home, bringing laughter daily, and every goodbye was with an “I love you”. At family gatherings, she was often seen watching over, holding, and caring for her little cousins as such actions were natural to her. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ when she was 15 and used her gifts to humbly serve Him with a sparkle and joy, living out her nickname-Jewels. We had our hopes and dreams with and in Julia, yet the Lord took her to Himself according to His perfect plan; because He loves her more than any of us could. “I am His” was Julia’s Facebook cover photo and a favorite book of Julia’s was “Stepping Heavenward” that she read numerous times. Leaving her earthly calling here below leaves much joy in memories and intense grief in our hearts, yet we all look up, by faith. Julia was preceded in death by her grandfather, Tom Vanden Toorn and brother Austin. Julia is survived by her parents, close brothers, Danny and Jimmy Vanden Toorn; her sisters, Kalei (William) Heikoop, Elisabeth (Jim) Crosby, and Nicole Vanden Toorn; four nephews and one niece, Luke, Clayton, Abilenbe, Aaron, Austin Jr.; Grandparents- Wilma Vanden Toorn (Moerdyk), Mark and Chris DeJonge (Schut), 15 sets of aunts and uncles; and 75 plus cousins. Family and friends are invited to Bethany United Reformed Church, 5401 Byron Center Ave., SW, Wyoming, MI for visitation on Wednesday, June 21, from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm, and on Thursday, June 22, from 1:30-2:15 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Bethany U.R.C.; with Rev. Mitchell Dick, Officiating. Burial will take place that morning with a private gathering of immediate family at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers or other memorial gifts, the family desires donations to be made in memory of Julia to the Alpha Care Center, PO Box 183, Lowell, MI 49331.
