Mary Ann Port, who was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend was called to her heavenly home at the age of 82, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, after a long battle with dementia.  Born to Paul Joseph and Mary Katus in Pittsburgh, PA on August 15, 1940, she grew up in North Braddock, PA where she graduated from Scot High School in 1958.  She immediately went to work for Westinghouse, where she met the love of her life, Albert.  They married on April 4, 1970, and soon moved to Lima, OH.  Mary Ann and Al later moved to Kentwood, MI in 1980 with their 2 children, Suzanne and Christopher.  She worked many jobs within Crestwood Middle School in Kentwood, finally retiring as the secretary to the Principal.  Mary Ann enjoyed golfing both in the ladies’ league as well as with Al.  She liked painting, reading, and spending time with family and friends.  Preceding Mary Ann in death is her husband of 52 years, Albert M. Port, Jr.  She is lovingly remembered by her children, Suzanne (Patrick Noonan) Port, Christopher (Renae) Port; grandchildren, Emersyn, Elliot, Ainsley, Aubrie; sister, Marlene (Frank) Galik; brother, Paul (Dee) Katus; and many nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Railside Assisted Living in Byron Center and to the nurses of Spectrum Health Hospice.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, May 21, from 5 to 7 PM at Stroo Funeral Home.  The memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Paul Apostle Catholic Church, 2750 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI, 49546, Monday, May 22, at 11:00 AM with Fr. Peter Damian as celebrant.  Interment will be in Blain Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Maguire's Purpose, a non-profit organization designed to help children and families that are affected by special needs.  Mary Ann's grandson has autism, so she has a strong connection to this cause.  Donations can be made via linktr.ee/maguirespurpose
