Patricia Ruth Werkema, born December 21, 1939, fell peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on December 10, 2022. She was preceded in death by her Sister Barbara Felker, Father Forest Felker, Son Michael Werkema, Mother and Step Father Edna and Hank Havens, Brothers Forest “Bud” and Norman Felker and Sister in law Patsy Wassenaar. She will be deeply missed and is survived by her Husband of 64 years, Harry, Sister Sandra Rone, Son Thomas (Kathy) Werkema, Brothers in law Gordon Wassenaar and Steve (Karen) Werkema, Grandchildren Heather (Matt) Smith, T.C. Werkema, Amanda (Mike) Kraft, Meggan (Sam) Anaya, and her six Great Grandchildren, Anden, Hailey, Marley, Sadie, Lily and Finnan. “Grandma Pat” as she was affectionately known by so many, will be fondly remembered for her love of horses and Jesus. Her love of horses began as a young girl and she passed that love and passion on to her husband, three granddaughters and even her great granddaughters. She was an exceptional horsewoman and spent decades of her life as a 4H Leader as well as a member of several national and state horse associations. She will be remembered as a fierce competitor, even showing and winning competitions into her 70’s. After no longer competing herself, she could often be found attending horse shows to cheer on her great granddaughters or simply watching them ride from her porch. Her love of Christ was evident in everything she did. She dedicated years of her life as a Sunday school and CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) teacher and was always active in church both in Michigan and Florida. She shared her home with several missionary families and students and left a great impact on all those with whom she shared the gospel.
