Kathleen and Albert TeWinkel, married on November 10, 1972, are both home in heaven with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Kathy, age 70, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, and Al, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. Kathy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. A dedicated homemaker, Kathy also worked outside the home as a secretary at State Farm Insurance Company for 18 years and at Diocesan Publications for 10 years. She had a talent for sewing and embroidery and her family cherishes the many items she made for them. She loved crafting, butterflies, lighthouses, going for walks with her friends, and being in the sunshine. Al proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and was a dedicated, hardworking provider for his family. He was a self-employed builder before going on to work in building maintenance at Pine Rest Christian Hospital for 25 years prior to his retirement. An avid sports fan, Al enjoyed watching South Christian High School football and basketball, as well as watching sports on TV. Together Al and Kathy enjoyed going to their grandchildren's many activities, motorcycle road trips (including several Midnight Rides that they took with a group of cherished friends), camping, spending time in the Soo Locks, southern gospel music, and being involved in church life. Al and Kathy lovingly cared for their parents when they were in their advanced years. Preceding the TeWinkel's in death are Kathy's parents, Kenneth and Wilma Miedema, Al's parents, Jerry and Min TeWinkel, and Al's brothers, John and Ken TeWinkel. They will be dearly missed by their children, Lora Marlink, Keith and Andrea TeWinkel; their grandchildren, Drew, Noelle, Trent, and Jude TeWinkel; Kathy's brothers and sister, Ron (Gloria) Miedema, Fred (Lynn) Miedema, Rick (Cindy) Miedema, Susan Miedema; Al's sisters and brothers-in-law, Harlene (Marv) Westendorp, Carla (Bill) McCarthy; Al's sister's-in-law, Marlene TeWinkel, Ida TeWinkel; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation for both Kathy and Al will be held from 5 - 8 PM on Monday, November 29, at Stroo Funeral Home. A funeral service for Kathy and Al will take place  at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 30, at Dutton United Reformed Church, 6950 Hanna Lake SE, with Rev. Talman Wagenmaker officiating. (Live-streaming of the service will be available at A private family graveside service will follow at Blain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life (in recognition of Kathy's kidney transplant) or Karin's Horse Connections and Legacy Stables (where their grandson took therapeutic horse riding lessons). The family takes comfort in one of Kathy's favorite Bible verses: "Be still and know that I am God" from Psalm 46:10, and in one of Al's favorite Bible verses: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go" from Joshua 1:9.
