On Monday, March 22, 2021, Clifford D. Pollema, age 77, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in heaven, where he joins his parents and his brother, Frank. He was born to Simon and Margaret Pollema on July 5, 1943, in Hull, Iowa. Clifford honorably served his country in the US Navy and was a proud veteran. He was married for 34 years, and had five children: Lynn (Dan) Cunningham, Mike (Amber) Pollema, Brian (Stephanie) Pollema, Steve (Jennifer) Pollema, Angie (Dan Conway) Pollema; and nine grandchildren, Ryan, Jeremy, Ashly, Julia, Mattelyn, Lincoln, Izaiah, Landon, and Chloe. He also leaves behind his companion and best friend, Linda Hart; his brothers and sisters, Peter (Nelva) Pollema, Nelvina (Roger) Moser, Winifred (Neal) Feenstra, Jay (Ellen) Pollema, Junior (Peggy) Pollema; sister-in-law, Audrey Pollema; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to being a loving and dedicated father, Clifford also loved going to the casino and garage sales and he cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those around him by serving as a Cadet counselor and on the church council. He worked as an electrician for over 50 years. After retirement, he was very active at the Salvation Army Senior Center and in volunteering. Visitation will be held from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM on Wednesday, March 24, at Stroo Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, March 25, at Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 7171 Willard Ave. SE, with Rev. Curt Walters officiating. Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Contributions in memory of Clifford may be made to South Christian High School.
