Randy James Matthews, age 59, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Randy was a musician, playing guitar in the classic rock band, Thundering Heart, for 15 years. He was also an artist, and an avid painter and illustrator.  Randy loved his family very much. He was a kind and gentle man, and a funny and happy go lucky jokester. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary; children, Heather Matthews and Josh Frain, Dan (Sarah Johnson) Matthews, Polly (Nick) Madalinski; and his parents, Larry and Joann Matthews. Private family services will be held at Stroo Funeral Home on Friday, March 12. His cremated remains will be buried in Pine Hill Cemetery.
